Berkeley School of Theology Receives CARES Act Funding

  1. Berkeley School of Theology acknowledges that the institution signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
  2. Berkeley School of Theology has received $ 46,074.00 from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement [for] Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students. Berkeley School of Theology will use no less than 50% of the funds to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to eligible students.
  3. Berkeley School of Theology distributed funds to 33 students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of {August 25, 2020}. Funds were distributed to an additional 34 students in June of 2021.
  4. Berkeley School of Theology estimated the total number of students at the institution who are or could be eligible to participate in the Federal student financial aid programs under  Section 484 of the Higher Education Act  of 1965, as amended, and thus33students are eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act. Disbursements for second round funding was based on units taken by eligible students. This resulted in 34 students receiving awards.
  5. 33 students were eligible to receive Department of Education funds and 33 students have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of {August 25 ,2020}. 34 students were eligible for second round awards as noted above.
  6. Berkeley School of Theology students may use CARES Act funds for expenses for any student-related expense related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus such as and including food, housing, course materials, technology, healthcare, childcare, etc.
