JOB SUMMARY:
This current position is an interim position and is part-time at 10-15 hours/week.
The Contemporary Service Music Director will bring skillful leadership of Praise music at FPCNapa including planning, preparation, coordination and implementation of music teams for worship.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Contemporary Service Music Director is accountable to the Senior Pastor/Head of Staff and works with the Worship CommiKee.
REMUNERATION: $30.00/hour. As the Contemporary Service Music Director is a part-time position, there is no benefit package.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Has a Heart for our LORD.
• Is a skilled Christian musician and vocalist with the ability to assemble and/or lead
other musicians and vocalists.
• Able to work effectively with people of different skill levels.
• Exhibits patience and enthusiasm.
• Has good communication skills.
• Is a creative thinker, open to new ideas and always striving to engage the
congregation.
• Flexibility to carry out other tasks assigned by Pastor and Worship CommiKee.
• Familiar with sound systems.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CONTEMPORARY SERVICE
• Able to lead the congregation in singing.
• Has the technical skill of either playing guitar or piano.
• Willing to recruit and accommodate musicians and vocalists of various skill levels.
• Has affinity and knowledge of contemporary Christian worship music.
• Organizational timeliness in creating lyric slides and equipping musicians with
resources to learn/play songs.
• Willing to work with Worship Committee in fleshing out Vision for Contemporary
Service.
• Familiar with navigating CCLI and Canva and possibly other websites that will help
manage directing contemporary Christian worship music.
EXPECTATIONS
• The Contemporary Service Music Director will be a team player who will work with the Worship Committee and will coordinate with the Pastor and other members to ensure that the music complements the other elements of worship to produce an inspiring and inviting atmosphere and fits within time constraints.
• The Contemporary Service Music Director will make sure that there is appropriate music at all worship services as well as services on special occasions such as Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve and other special Sundays.
• Maintain contact and availability information for the musicians and singers.
• Available on email and/or by phone with a 48-hour response time.
• Commit to an average of 10-15 hours per week for rehearsals, services and
meetings.
• Available every Sunday (unless excused by the worship committee) from 10:00 am
until 1:00 pm.
