DOCTOR OF MINISTRY
BST’s competency-based Doctor of Ministry (DMin) program is built around you. Whether you’re a seasoned ministry leader or looking to deepen your impact, this flexible program lets you chart your own course. You’ll work closely with expert faculty mentors to tailor your learning journey—earning credit for your real-world experience while mastering essential skills through diverse, hands-on approaches. As a BST DMin student, you’ll also gain access to the world-class academic resources of the Graduate Theological Union and UC Berkeley, empowering you to grow intellectually, spiritually, and professionally.

You’ll build a strong theological foundation while also preparing for advanced study, including ThM, PhD, or other doctoral programs. MASTER OF THEOLOGICAL STUDIES
Deepen Your Understanding, Expand Your Impact with the 100% Online Master of Theological Studies (MTS): This flexible program is designed for those ready to explore their theological passions and prepare for specialized ministry, community engagement, or advanced academic work. With a fully online format, you can study on your schedule—completing the 36-unit program in as little as 18 months, with optional on-campus courses if desired. The MTS allows you to dive deep into topics that matter most to you, including race relations, gender studies, public theology, intercultural and interreligious studies, and more. Whether you’re pursuing a new vocational path or strengthening your academic foundation, this degree offers the adaptability to meet your goals. Current MDiv and MCL students can even earn the MTS as a dual degree with just one additional year, expanding both expertise and career potential. MASTER of COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP
Lead with Purpose through the Master of Community Leadership (MCL): This program is designed to equip you with the real-world skills and ethical foundation needed to tackle complex social challenges and drive meaningful change in your community. PUBLIC THEOLOGY CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
Make Your Faith Public: Earn a Certificate in Public Theology: The Public Theology Certificate (PTC) is a five-course, 16-month program designed for seminarians, clergy, and faith leaders who want to lead with purpose in both the church and the public square. Offered in partnership with Faith in Action (formerly the PICO National Network), this unique program equips you with practical skills in faith-based organizing, helping you strengthen congregational life while engaging pressing social issues with theological depth and pastoral excellence. You’ll gain tools to integrate spiritual leadership with real-world advocacy—preparing you to embody a vibrant, public theology that brings faith to life in your community and beyond.
TRAINING IN CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP
Your Fast Track to Leadership: Earn an Accredited Master’s Degree in Church and Community Leadership: If you’re ready to step into impactful leadership roles in your church or community, Berkeley School of Theology’s Training in Christian Leadership (TCL) programs offer a clear, step-by-step path tailored to your learning journey. Start with the six-course Certificate in Community Leadership (CCL) to build essential leadership skills and make an immediate impact. Continue with the BA Equivalency Certificate (BCL)—a 20-course program that provides the academic foundation equivalent to a bachelor’s degree. From there, seamlessly transition into an accredited master’s program such as the Master of Community Leadership (MCL), Master of Divinity (MDiv), or the fully online Master of Theological Studies (MTS). Along the way, you’ll earn stackable credentials, benefit from flexible learning options, and gain practical skills for effective church and community leadership. LEADING INTERCULTURAL MINISTRIES
Lead with Inclusion: Become a Confident Leader in Diverse Settings: Ideal for leaders passionate about building bridges and reflecting the diverse reality of our communities, this 9-month, cohort-based program equips faith-based ministry and community leaders with the tools to champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Through a dynamic learning experience with 15 like-minded peers, you’ll gain practical skills to navigate cultural differences, foster unity, and lead inclusive organizations. The program emphasizes real-world application through a capstone project, giving you hands-on experience in creating impactful intercultural ministries. Along the way, you’ll deepen your understanding of inclusive leadership, strengthen your ability to lead across diverse groups, and grow your capacity to build communities where everyone truly belongs.
