Programs FAQ

If you have completed a bachelor’s degree, you are eligible for BST’s master’s degree programs. Depending on your interests and goals, the Master of Divinity, Master in Community Leadership, or Master of Theological Studies may be right for you. 

If you have a Master of Divinity or equivalent degree already and you want to deepen your personal spirituality and leadership competency, then BST’s Doctor of Ministry is a great option. 

If you do not hold a bachelor’s degree, you qualify for the Training in Christian Leadership BA equivalency certificate program that offers you a fast-track to enter a master’s degree program. This program is also available in Spanish (Entrenamiento de Liderazgo Cristiano). 

Yes! The BST degree programs offer great flexibility and options for studying topics of interest to you. While there are some required core courses in each program, you have the opportunity to customize to satisfy your curiosity and achieve your vocational goals. 

No! BST’s programs can be completed through hybrid formats that allow participation in a physical classroom and a virtual classroom at the same time (synchronously). Plus, the Master of Theological Studies is a completely online, self-paced course of study. 

Each program is different, and it depends if you take a full course load. The Master of Theological Studies can be completed in 18 months, and the Master of Community Leadership in as little as 2 years. The Master of Divinity is the longest master’s degree and takes 3 years. The Doctor of Ministry also takes 3 years to complete. Certificate programs can take anywhere from 1 to 3 years depending on the number of courses taken.  

Yes! A variety of significant scholarships and financial aid options are available for BST’s programs. During the application process, scholarships will be discussed with you. 

The GTU is a unique collaboration and comprehensive center for graduate religious studiescomprised of schools, centers, and programs representing 10 different faith traditions. Students enrolled in any GTU school or center may cross-register for courses offered by the other member schools/centers. This opportunity multiplies the courses and topics available for you to explore.
