Berkeley School of Theology’s Center for Truth, Racial Healing, & Restorative Justice invites you to attend the 2025 Spring Lecture with Nazgol Ghandnoosh, PhD, Director of Research with the Sentencing Project.
Dr. Ghandnoosh is the primary researcher and author of the four-part “One in Five” report that examines racial inequities in America’s criminal legal system, as well as highlights promising reforms. Her lecture on April 24 will focus on the Second Look Movement as a means of effectively ending mass incarceration.
The Sentencing Project advocates for effective and humane responses to crime that minimize imprisonment and criminalization of youth and adults by promoting racial, ethnic, economic, and gender justice. They bring unique value as a bridge organization, uniting work on the ground with overarching policy changes at the national level. The Sentencing Project currently partners with 87 national groups and over 320 state-level organizations who are working to advance reforms in the areas of extreme sentencing, voting rights, and youth justice. In all of these partnerships, they are committed to centering the voices, experiences, and leadership of directly impacted individuals and communities.
